Bayfest 2020

For many years, the Club  Cruceros  Sea of Cortez Race Week was held at the island off of La Paz, this to mark the end of  the  winter cruising season. The last race week was held in 2002, more’s the pity.  Soooo, not  to be  cheated out of a fiesta, The Club put together a new event. Bayfest was born!( Because we really, really needed a summer camp for adults!).

Again this year we will be invading La Costa Restaurant, bringing with us all kinds of possibilities for fun and laughter with friends and those of us who are destined  to be  legends. Both daytime and evening stuff  has been scheduled  to fill your waking hours. Seminars, games, wine tasting, dancing, workshops, great meals - this year Bayfest has it all.

Ok, spoiler alert: You might actually have to, A) know what day of the week it is; B) notice the time and C)  plan ahead. Don’t worry, you can do it, and the Club is here for you again with an idea - we printed pocket-sized schedules. Brilliant! These schedules are available right by the sign-up board in the clubhouse. Get one!

Hint: Take a look at your printed schedule while standing in the clubhouse. Find all the fun stuff you want to do and sign up on Patsy’s neato sign-up board. Don’t procrastinate! The popular seminars and workshops will fill up quickly.

What the well-dressed attendee should wear to Bayfest: Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses ( you know the drill). And most importantly - This year’s unique, limited  edition, upper body adornment. OK, it’s a t-shirt, all right? The 2020 Bayfest t-shirt! They  will be sold  on the club patio at coffee hour and, if there are any left, at Bayfest.

Here are just a few things you could do:

Salty Seminars

Delicious Seminars

Crafty Workshops

The above is just a sampling - there is so much more! So let’s get this party started!

Wednesday, April 1st may find you playing games, going a little dinghy on the Dinghy Poker Run, and eating free hot dogs at the Clubhouse. Did I mention beer at bargain prices? It’s true!!

Thursday there is a sailboat race, Rock to the Dock - it’s a tradition. Much of the post-race bragging can be  heard later at the Wine Tasting event.

Friday the seminars start. They will be fun and informative, and they might make you thirsty. Good thing Happy Hour starts at 4:00, featuring drink specials. Don’t forget to push away from the bar in time to enjoy a  lasagna  or fish dinner. Important note: you must pre-purchase tickets for dinner. They are on sale at the club during coffee hours and at La Paz Cruiser's Supply in Marina Palmira. If they are not sold out there is a chance you may get your tickets during Bayfest. (I warned you about planning!)

Saturday is THE MAIN EVENT. Break out that Aloha Shirt for the Grand Hawaiian Luau! Be sure to get your tickets early and join your friends for a traditional Roasted Pig Dinner and a hula show. How great is that?!

Sunday features our yearly Chili Cookoff. Dust off that secret family recipe and sign up for a little friendly competition. Who will have the most delicious recipe? Come to help us choose!

And there you have it - a quick and slightly inadequate overview of all the fun  to be  had at Bayfest 2020. This is the part where Club  Cruceros  trusts you to come and party hearty. Lots of people you know have planned for months to throw this fiesta just for you! See y’all there!
