Charity Fund Distribution
The Club Cruceros Charity Committee vets local charities and brings recommendations to the Board of Directors. Each year the Club finds a wide variety of ways in which to help. Each month, each season, brings new opportunities to lend a helping hand, and the club rises to the occasion, time and again.
2021-2022 Season
March 2022 - The Board voted to donate 10,750 pesos Voces de los Ninos, 10,750 pesos to the Rotary Club, 10,750 pesos to FANLAP, 10,750 pesos to the Elder Care Facility, Additionally 10,750 pesos was donated to Pro Paramedics, a group of marine biologists and medical personnel, many of who are volunteers. During the pandemic, the group distributed personal protective equipment to paramedics in the La Paz Fire Department and Proteccion Civil La Paz. The effort expanded to cover more than 120 paramedics in the state of Baja California Sur.
Club Cruceros Donations to the Elder Care Facility
2020-2021 Season
November 2021 - The club received a private donation of $8,000 pesos directed to Mamá Benita's shelter. The money was much appreciated by the shelter as the pandemic continues.
June 2021 - Club Cruceros delivered a huge care package to the Elder Care facility in La Paz. Adult diapers, cleaning supplies, rice, beans, macaroni, tuna, tomatoe sauce and lots of fresh vegatables and fruit. The care givers were so very happy, thanked us and said we were a miracle. The facility is still in total lock down due to a Covid outbreak so there have been no visitors bringing donations.
May 2021 - During the pandemic the The Board voted to donate 10,000 pesos to Voces de los Ninos, 15,000 pesos to the Rotary Club for their phones for kids program so that the kids could keep up with their education while schools are closed, and 10,000 pesos to the Elder Care facility.
2019-2020 Season
March 2020 - During their March meeting the Board of Directors voted to donate 20,000 pesos to the La Paz Blood Bank to help fund their mobile unit. During the pandemic the Blood Bank decided not to go ahead with the mobile unit and the funds were not disbursed from the Charity Fund. The Board also also voted to donate 15,000 pesos to the Rotary Cub for their water project and 5,000 pesos to SeaWatch to aid in their efforts to protect the Sea of Cortez.
February 2020 - The Board of Directors voted to donate 20,000 pesos to Voces de los Ninos, 5,000 pesos to the Rotary Club for their water program, 5,000 pesos to FANLAP and 5,000 pesos to the Elder Care Facility for adult diapers and lactose intolerant milk.
January 2020 - At the January board meeting, the Club Cruceros Board of Directors voted to donate 10,000 pesos to Care for Kids for one family in need. These funds will be for the entire family in their education and enrichment program. All school costs including transportation. Care for Kids will supply the Club with an exact accounting of the monies spent for the support of the family.
November 2019 - The Board voted to donate 2,500 pesos to Care for Kids
2018-2019 Season
February 2019 - At their February Board meeting the Club Cruceros Board of Directors voted unanimously to donate 10,000 pesos to Voces de los Ninos. The organization provides speech and language therapy to special needs children. This donation will fund the therapy for three children. Also a 5,000 peso donation to FANLAP was approved.
2017-2018 Season
April, 2018 - The Board voted to donate funds for the purchase of art supplies for the Children's Day Celebration at CRIT. Club member Jean Wise was allocated 1,500 pesos for the art groups project of face painting, finger painting and paper plate craft projects. Member Cindy Espinoza was allocated 150 pesos her art project for the celebration.
March 2018 - The Board voted to donate 2,500 pesos to FANLAP. They also voted to return 2,196 pesos of funds previously allocated to Mamá Benita's shelter back to the Charity Fund as the project is completed.
November, 2017 - In their November meeting the Board of Directors voted unanimously to allocate the entire proceeds of the 2018 Fashion Show to purchase building materials for the construction of a study center in the Colonia of Villas de Guadalupe
October, 2017 - The Board of Directors voted to donate supplies totaling $1,000 pesos to an arts & crafts charity program headed by club member Cindy Espinoza from La Paz Yachts.
2016-2017 Season
April, 2017 - The Board of Directors voted to donate an additional $2,000 pesos to K9 Rancho Perro to purchase additional supplies for their upcoming spay and neuter clinic.
March, 2017 - Club Cruceros Board of Directors voted in their March meeting to donate a used washing machine to Mamá Benita's shelter. Cost not to exceed $2000 pesos. Also to donate 1,000 pesos worth of medicine to K9 Rancho Perro for their vaccination, spay and neutering program and 3,000 pesos worth of adult diapers and lactose free milk to the Elder Care Facility.
March, 2017 - Club Cruceros members are spending time at Mamá Benita's shelter helping her to determine the upgrades necessary to bring her facility to the level required by the government. Funds raised from the Club Cruceros Fashion Show which were previously set aside for Mamá Benita's will be used to make these improvements.
December, 2016 - Club members delivered delivered 2000 pesos worth of adult diapers and lactose free milk to the Elder Care Facility right before Christmas. Many items donated by generous Club Cruceros members were delivered as well.
December, 2016 - Club Cruceros Board voted to donate 2,000 pesos to the Elder Care Facility. These funds will go towards the purchase of adult diapers and lactose free milk for the residents.
September, 2016 - Club Cruceros Board donated 2,500 pesos to FANLAP and 3,000 pesos to Mamá Benita's shelter for much needed food for the children and adults in the facility.
Schoolchildren Receive Aid
This report from Sandy Elterich, Club Cruceros Treasurer:
For the second year Club Cruceros is sponsoring four schoolchildren who would not be able to attend school without help. The club purchased uniforms, school supplies, shoes, backpacks and tuition. This year we spent $14,002 pesos for two sets of uniforms, a PE uniform, a pair of tennis shoes, a backpack, required school supplies, and tuition for each student. The students are required to supply their report cards to the club and to achieve a 7 in all subjects on a 0 to 10 point basis.
May, 2016 - Club Cruceros Board voted to donate 2,670 pesos to help pay for the necessary upgrades to the water system at Mama Benita's children and adult shelter.
