Villas de Guadalupe
Villas de Guadalupe is an extremely poor neighborhood in the hills of La Paz. Club Cruceros was first introduced to the Colonia when members delivered mattresses in a program called "Beds for Kids" years ago.
Since that time many members have spent time in the area distributing food, clothing and Christmas gifts.
Christmas
For years just before Christmas Club Cruceros has distributed children's names through the cruisers. The fleet has responded tremendously with 75-100 gift bags every year filled with goodies for the children. Members of the Club go up to the Colonia and distribute the bags in an annual Christmas Party.
School Children
In 2015 the Club began sponsoring four schoolchildren from the Villas de Guadalupe area. The Club Charity Fund pays for their tuition and school supplies annually. In return these kids must show they are keeping up good grades to qualify for the program next year.
Study Center
Most homes in the area are meager one or two room buildings with 3-6 people living in them. Most are single moms and their children. The children do not have a support system like we know it. The parents are not educated. The homes are noisy, there are many distractions and there is no place that is conducive to learning. The kids there are hungry to learn and need guidance and help. They need a place where studying is the norm.
In March of 2018 construction was begun on the Study Center and it was finished in 2019.
